U.S. inflation rate in November jumps to +1.8% versus -0.2% in October
According to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics report, there has been quite a swing in the U.S. inflation rate over the past month. The CPI all-items index has moved from -0.2% year over year in October to +1.8% in November.

Leading the Way into Lead-Free Plumbing
Literally days from now with the turn of the year, California’s new regulations concerning lead-free plumbing are scheduled to take effect. Signed into law on September 30, 2006, California Assembly Bill AB 1953 prohibits the use of lead in pipe, plumbing fittings or fixtures, solder, or flux used to “convey or dispense water for human consumption through drinking or cooking.” Under the new law, ‘lead-free’ is defined as “not more than 0.2 percent lead when used with respect to solder and flux and not more than a weighted average of 0.25% when used with respect to the wetted surface of pipes and pipe fittings, plumbing fittings and fixtures.” As the law applies only to fixtures that have contact with drinking water, fittings for applications such as dishwashers, toilets and bathtubs would be exempt.
