The U.S. unsold new homes picture deteriorates again in February
Today’s report from the Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development records further unpleasant news for the U.S. housing sector. The number of new single-family unsold homes, after falling to an unprecedented low of 232,000 units in December 2009, has edged up again slightly in the last two months.
Extinguishing the Olympic torch will not cool Vancouver’s economy for long
Given the volume of construction driven by the Olympic Winter Games over the past six years, there is little doubt that the Vancouver economy will experience some cooling off following the extinguishing of the Olympic torch. However, there is increasing evidence that the effects of this loss in local, game-related, economic stimulus will be offset by a steady strengthening of national and global economic activity.
